Case Study: Georgia-Pacific Building Products
Georgia-Pacific Building Products Division is a leading manufacturer and marketer of plywood, gypsum boards, lumber, and engineered wood products. They were looking for a new focus for their International Builders Show 2005 booth that was innovative and forward thinking, combining "out of the box" design with structural, conservative stability.
One of their many obstacles was product displays. They were in need of separate areas for 10 main products and 3 secondary products. The 10 main products each needed their own space, but they still wanted the booth to have an open feel. Most of the product displays needed water demonstrations and all had to be built to represent actual field installations.
The client also needed a presentation area to demonstrate hands on application of their products. This was something they had never done before and felt it was very important to have in the booth.
Their booth location also presented a few dilemmas. The overall height limit was 26', but portions of the booth were under a pedestrian walkway and could not go about 14'.
The booth also had to be designed and fabricated in less than 3 months.
The impression of the Georgia-Pacific Products Division was expressed by their Executive VP, "Georgia-Pacific did not just hit a home run, we hit a grand slam." Their products were shown more effectively than in the past and had a greater graphic impact. The location of the walkway actually proved to be an asset. From a large portion of the walkway all you see was the Georgia-Pacific booth.
